Facebook For Business: Top 2 Drinks Pages

We all know what Facebook is and we all drink some kind of fluids so I thought what better way to kick off my look at some of the best Facebook Fanpages than by looking at some drink producers?

Top of my must visit fanpage list is Redbull http://www.facebook.com/redbull

Redbull just seem to effortlessly go from strength to strength and with each twist or development in their business I get more and more excited! Admittedly the product they produce has hardly changed at all since it came out. There have been a few additions to the RedBull product line but fundamentally they are making the same thing they have always made but it is their work outside of the product that is the most exciting part of who they are and what they do. Their fanpage is packed with videos, news, great games, and links to their various events, athletes and sports. There is just so much to see and do. A personal favourite of mine is the RedBull Air Race which for those who don't know formula 1 racing in the sky! Check it out here http://www.facebook.com/redbullairrace

The highlight of the redbull fanpage is that the various sports people and athletes they sponser have their fanpage feeds redirected into the RedBull Fanpage so you can hear about some wild and wonderful stuff that you had no idea was going on. Well worth a visit!

The next drink related Fanpage in my sights is the ever present Starbucks. I am a huge coffee fan but I am NOT a fan of Starbucks. I much prefer the unique, local and independent coffee shops that used to be around before Starbucks took over what ssems like every street corner in every city in the Western world! Well why the hell am I talking about them then you may ask? Well I like how they do what they do on their Fanpage so I will let my dissatisfaction with some of their business practices slide so I can point out some of their good use of the Fanpage.

First of all, they make a lot of their customers happy and those customers seem to like nothing more than to tell the world what their favourite drink is, which is their favourite store and who their favourite barista is. The number one way to increase your business through using a Facebook Fanpage is INTERACTION and Starbucks has that in bucketloads with nearly 20 million fans and a constant stream of positive comments (mixed in with a few negative ones!) When developing your Fanpage look to the businesses out there that have nailed the Fanpage formula and try and emulate what they do. Have a great product that you are proud of, make it as easy as possible for your customers to tell others how much they love you and be as visible as possible about tweaking what you do to make the product or its perception better. Sounds simple doesn't it?!

I hope you have enjoyed my quick first post on facebook for business and I hope that by studying the big players that you will get some ideas of your own about how to develop and evolve your social media offering and ways of engaging your customers. Until next time...

    Great blog, Richard.

I'm picking up on the "customers love your product" aspect and let them tell the world. It seems product quality is the most important aspect in all this 'product loving'... I just wonder how many product managers have picked up on this.

Amazing post, great read. Need to some caffine now; off to think about making customers happy.
