Make use of your Facebook Sidebar

Seen by many, but only really known by a few; there is something called a Sidebar on Facebook.

The Sidebar is the long tall graphic on the left hand side of the Facebook Page.  This graphic is used by a lot of the big companies for their fan pages.  Gor some reason most small businesses don’t make use of it.!

Rather than using your standard avatar or logo image, the sidebar feature on Facebook allows you to use the space available to you on the left hand side of your page to really make an impression.  The original true purpose of the logo on your fan page was to make people recognise your brand.  Then used to grab attention.  It has now evolved in to something bigger.

You can run promotions, competitions and captivate your audience. Show off work and display information valuable for those visiting your page. Make them want to check out the rest of what you have to offer. Facebook has taken the world by storm and now has over 400 million users with over 50% of these users logging in daily.

With users accessing Facebook 500 billion minutes per month you can start to see how effective Facebook really is on a local, national and international scale.  You need to be where your fans and prospects are, and now they are on Facebook. This is where they are socially.   This is also where they shop.   People are educating themselves online these days.  Why not educate them about your product or your brand?

There are many different version of sidebars for Facebook.  One thing is more important than anything - it’s your chance to make a good first impression. It will be the first thing the visitor looks at. You have to make it count.

Why go halfway with a bog standard fan page when you can go the full way and make it work properly.
